The first focus is on advancing west, Moldova and its separatist Transnistria region, where Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to cause trouble and instability”.
The focus is also on Marioupol, a city surrounded by still resisting attacks and has not fully fallen into Russia's hands despite continued shelling.
Walmsley points out that Marioupol is the last Ukrainian island raid on the Azovstal steel plant.
If Putin gets it, Walmsley says it “will be able to say that the entire southern corridor is in Russia's hands”.
The third focus is on advancing towards the city of Krivyi Rich, a town that could be the Russian forces' next target.
Walmsley points out that although it may seem “of strategic importance, it is very symbolic because it is the birthplace of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky”.
“Putin wants to show results because obviously the special operation in Ukraine should have lasted only a few days, and here we are in the third month”, Walmsley told Sky News.
