German Chancellor Olaf Scholz today during a televised speech on the 77th anniversary of the end of World War II, said Russia should not be able to establish the terms of any peace agreement ending its occupation in Ukraine.
I cannot tell you today when and how Russia's cruel fight against Ukraine will end. But one thing is clear, there shouldn't be a peace detected by Russia. The Ukrainians will not accept this, nor will we at”, he said.
In his speech, Scholz tried to assure the Germans that he was working in step with the country's allies and would not make NATO a direct party in the war.
“The difficult “decisions taken by the government to support Kiev in recent weeks were needed to counter Russia's aggression. Not to do so would imply the surrender to violence and empowering the aggressor”, Scholz said.
On Monday, the day Russia commemorates its victory in World War II, Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to deliver a speech by Moscow's Red Square, addressing the conflict, Politico broadcasts.
