Russia plans to build and deploy about 50 new cross-circular ballistic missiles Sarmat capable of nuclear attacks by the end of autumn, said Dmitry Rogozin, director general of the Russian space agency Roscosmos.
The missiles will be produced in the Siberian town of Krasnoyarsk, he told Russian media.
Russia carried out the first test launch of a new generation Sarmat missile at the Plesetsk space port in northern Russia in April.
The sarma has a radius of 10,000 miles [18,000 km] and can be equipped with nuclear heads. This would allow Russia to achieve global targets by launching missiles all over the North or South Pole.
The first sarmats will be located on Krasnoyarsk territory. President Vladimir Putin used a missile launch in April to threaten the West in the context of the Russian war in Ukraine.
The rocket can overcome all kinds of defence and force the states of “think better” before threatening Russia, Putin said at the time.
