Nikola Gruevski sentenced to nine years in prison

Gruevski, who has fled to Hungary, along with several former Macedonian officials, has been sentenced for the case known as “kosmos”, the collapse of an object of a businessman who opposed the then ruling V party's policy MRO- The DPMNE, led by Nikola Gruevski.
By the court, the primary act has been assessed as motivated for political revenge.
For the same work, former Transport Minister Mile Jakanievski has been sentenced to three years in prison, while four years in prison he was sentenced to former Gazi Baba municipality head in Skopje, Tony Trajkovski.
Under the trial, convicts must jointly compensate for the damage caused by businessman Fiat Canovski in the amount of over 11m euros.
The investigation against Gruevski and other officials were initiated by the wiretaps that were published in 2013 by Zoran Zaev, the former leader of the opposition Social Democratic League.
Former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski has previously been sentenced to two years in prison for buying a luxury car worth over 600 thousand euros, but the sentence has not suffered since he had escaped from northern Macedonia.
Former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, on November 13, 2018, had announced via the social Facebook network that he had fled to Hungary. A few days later, he announced that Hungarian authorities had approved the request for political asylum due to, as he has said, political prosecution by the government of Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.
On the road to Hungary, Gruevski has crossed the territories of Albania, Montenegro and Serbia.
