Mehe talks about importance, but doesn't elaborate on the Security Fund.

During a report before the parliamentary Security Commission on May 4th, Mehe did not elaborate on how many tools have been collected so far, but said any additional means are needed for Kosovo security institutions to achieve military goals.

The collected financial equipment from this fund is intended to be used in line with Kosovo's state strategy, which is expected to be approved very soon by the Kosovo Government”, Mehe said.

“Forca, military and police are offering security and we know that our budget has been added, but to achieve the capabilities and military security needs, I am not only talking military needs, but also those of the military, any additional budget given to the army and police” is necessary, he added.

According to Minister Mehej, the entire process of establishing this fund has been in “full co-ordination with the United States, with our partners, so those who publish false news, I feel sorry for them, but we have done nothing without co-ordination with” partners.

On March 1st, the Government of Kosovo announced the establishment of the Security Fund, in which various citizens and donors can contribute.

Minister Mehaj said that despite the Kosovo Security Force budget, security needs have not been met.

The budget for this year for the Kosovo Security Force is 100m euros. Earlier, that amount was about 60 million. In November last year, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti had said that the amount earmarked for the army constitutes 1.3 percent of Bruto Production.

In October 2018, the Kosovo Assembly adopted three laws, through which the transformation of KSF into the Kosovo Army is possible. This process is meant to last ten years.
