Loyal Tahiri: The Senseless Hague Tribunal

Former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders were acquitted of the new charges brought by the Specialised Prosecutor's Office in The Hague.

In separate sessions near the Specialised Chambers, former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, former Speakers of the Parliament, Kadri Veselini, and Jakup Krasniqi, but also the former delegation, Rexhep Selimi, were acquitted of the new charges, which were added 29 April to the initial indictment of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

During the next session for presentation on May 10th, Thaci said he did not understand the charges because they were very edited, but said he was declared innocent.

The new charges involve alleged crimes at two detention centres in Suhareka and a detention centre in Gjilan.

Meanwhile, at a separate session, Wessel was also acquitted, demanding that the trial begin as soon as possible.

“I have read [the new charges], I just want the court process to start as soon as possible and have my right to express my innocence” before citizens and judges, Veselin said.

Likewise, Jakup Krasniqi, who was physically present in the courtroom, said he is declared innocent and said there is no kind of responsibility for charges weighing on him.

During May 10th, in front of the Specialised Chambers, former Kosovo Assembly President Rexhep Selimi, questioned the charges filed said that “I am convinced that no kind of responsibility do I have for this we heard”.

Thaci, Krasniqi, Veselin and Selimi have a joint indictment of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Judgment against them has not yet begun.

The act towards Thaci, Veselin, Krasniqi and Selimi was established on October 26, 2020 and made public on November 5, 2020.
