Shaip Kamberi failed to win a seat in Serbia's Assembly, thus making it 15 years from now that no Albanian deputy was in this assembly.
He believes that up to this came due to the division of Albanian political groups in the Presevo Valley, which this time failed to get together and compete with a single list.
Kamberi, in an interview for Kosovo's “Special edition”, stated that the “Coalation of the Valley Albanians” is resisting Serbia, while saying that Shqirim Arifi is adapting to Belgrade.
“I think that the division up to the lists has come precisely because of political concepts, which have had to be followed in Belgrade, the concept of political resistance, which we have had as the Coalion of Valley Albanians and the concept of pragmatism, as suggested by the rest. The election results we have today on the ground speak that the list, which has spoken that we should be pragmatic with Belgrade, has received only 1927 votes in Presevo and only 350 votes in Bujanoc. Our electorate is directed and oriented to give support to an ongoing political resistance to Serbia”.
He even said that Shqim Arifi, the current Presevo chairman, has campaigned against him and the coalition he leads, saying he is resisting possible representation of Albanians in Serbia's Parliament.
“The Arifi pronunciation even these last two days before the elections, through its portals, has led a negative campaign personally against me, the coalition and this success, but everyone has their own choices. The Albanian Coalition and I have received support from all of Albania, from President Ilir Meta and Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who never occurred in any election process, happen that in Presevo we have resistance to a possible success of Albanians for representation. An Albanian MP represents Albanians in the Presevo Valley, rather than a political party”.
