Ukrainian combat pilots are much more than Russians and have become legendary, in part because of the history of Kiev “fantazma”.
This hero is said to have shot down as many as 40 Russian planes, an incredible accomplishment when considering the Russian bombings.
Currently, the Ukrainian Air Force Command has warned on the official Facebook page that the “fantism of Kiev” is a legend, a character created by Ukrainians and does not really exist.
The announcement requires that people verify the information before spreading it.
Previous reports indicated that Stepan Tarabalka, 29, was responsible for successful air struggle. Authorities said Tarabalka had died on March 13th and was honoured with a Ukraine Hero medal after her death.
Air Force stress that this person has not hit 40 planes, nor is it the “fantism of Kiev”.
It describes Kiev's “Fantazma” as a collective image of pilots of the 40th Air Force tactical aviation brigade, who defend the sky over the capital”, instead of the single man's fighting record.
