Marking Europe's Day and the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration that established the foundations for lasting peace among European nations, Ambassador Szunyog noted that the EU would not be complete without the Western Balkans and that Russian aggression against Ukraine has made joint efforts for the region's European integration even more important.
“I am proud of the progress Kosovo has achieved with the support of the European Union and our member states. Despite any challenge, EU solidarity will never diminish and the EU will continue to be the closest partner with Kosovo, as it is now”, Szunyog said.
Stressing EU support, he called for Kosovo's continued commitment to make progress on its European path.
“The rule of law is the foundation of a healthy democratic society and, together with the protection and promotion of human rights, must remain the priority for Kosovo institutions”, Szunyog said, and added that the media should be free of any pressure and enjoy security and freedom of expression.
Since the year 2022 is the European Year of Youth, most of the activities organised by the EU in Kosovo to celebrate Europe's Day target young people and focus on green energy, environment and digitalisation.
