Egypt in talks with India on exclusion from grain export ban

Egypt is in talks with Indian officials on taking an exception from India's decision to ban grain exports, Egypt's plant quarantine head Ahmed El Attar has said, as Cairo seeks to replace purchases cut off by Russian invasion in Ukraine. “There are talks between India and Egypt on levels [...]
“There are talks between India and Egypt at the highest levels to be part of the exceptions to this decision”, El Attar told Reuters, adding that there is continued communication with their ambassador to New Delhi.
India banned grain exports as a scorching heat wave cut production and domestic prices hit a high record. In April, Egypt's Agriculture Ministry announced that it had approved India as a source of grain supplies.
