Denmark's health authorities have said on Monday, May 2nd, that 1.1 million vaccines against Coronavirus will be eliminated in the coming weeks, because they have been offered the expiration date, and that efforts to give them as donations to developing countries have failed.
The state institute, Statens Serum, which analyses the extent of COVID-19 in Denmark, has said that the epidemic in the Scandinavian state currently “is under control, and the vaccine coverage among the Danish population is high”.
Some 81 percent of Denmark's population of 5.8 million people have received two doses of the anti - Coronavirus vaccine, while 62 percent have received strengthening doses.
The agency has said Denmark, like many states in the world, has too much vaccine.
“There are global challenges in terms of vaccine donations against COVID-19, because for the first time during the pandemic, the supply of vaccines exceeds”, the agency said through a statement.
According to authorities, Denmark has made a 9 million doses of the vaccine and is co-operating with other European Union states to find candidates who will accept vaccines that are excessive.
“However, due to the decline in demand and the unwillingness to vaccinate in developing states, it has been difficult for Denmark and other EU countries to find the receptive states of these” doses, it has been said in the statement.
