Citaku tells Kosovo Press that Kosovo's carrier institutions failed to lobby enough for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe.
I fear that, with Kosovo not being involved in today's agenda, this process will drag on too much. I ask the Kosovo government to respond, has there been sufficient co-ordination with our partners so that Kosovo's application can be treated positively... We when we made the application invitation didn't mean filling out the forms, because that's the easiest part. We have requested close co-ordination with our allies, unfortunately Kosovo's invitation today has not reached”, he says.
She asked about the presence of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Minister Donika Grovall, until she requested greater commitment to the process.
Russia's “With the exception of this important institution has created a golden opportunity for Kosovo membership in this institution. Most of the necessary and necessary to proceed further we do, because out of 46 member states now, most have recognized us. It is extremely disturbing and distressing, since the government has had to use this time period to lobe on the countries that have known us so as not to lose the moment and proceed further. I don't know where Kosovo Foreign Affairs Minister is today, has he ever met with ministers there, saw Serbia's Foreign Minister in Turin, the prime minister is now seeing America for two weeks with a pale agenda. He too should be involved in this process, what engagement other institutions have had, the presidency”, she asked.
According to her, Kosovo should use the established moment and co-ordination with international partners to continue for membership in the Council of Europe.
“I hope there will be movement forward, but it is necessary at this stage that all institutional mechanisms in the Republic of Kosovo are committed to co-ordination with our international partners so that the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers will invite Kosovo for application, as these are procedures that need to be followed. Even at best, this is a long process and takes time. We don't have time to waste to start the process, as we don't know what geopolitical circumstances will be in our continent in a month or three months. We saw in developments in Ukraine that things can change quickly, this golden opportunity that has been done to Kosovo must be fully exploited”, it concludes.
Kosovo applied for membership in the Council of Europe weeks ago. At today's meeting in Turin, Italy, the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers did not include Kosovo's application in the agenda.
