Cana said that today “we can consider it historic day”, while criticising Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Government for failing to activate properly in this process.

He said that the government “has no experience in the membership process”, but stressed that Kosovo had a strong sponsor to apply for EC membership.
The reason why the Government has now applied is because it had a sponsor and that sponsor turned out to be public in support for membership and he was Germany. So it's not like the government was prepared for this job”, Cana said at Frontal of T7.
According to him, Kosovo has had the votes for membership since 2013, but said that several friendly Kosovo states have banned us”.
Cana said 9 years have been lost “for some considerations of their (member states) that are now being seen as geopolitical historical errors”.
