Officials from the Ukrainian government have been praying to the United States for months to send M system LRS. But three people with random knowledge say Ukraine is concerned that the White House is refusing to send them because of the concern that weapons can be used to launch attacks within Russia's territory, which would extend and prolong the conflict.
An official from the Biden administration who spoke on condition of anonymity, told POLITICO That the two countries are at “active execution” about the gun, but that even with the 3.8 billion military assistance the US has sent to Ukraine since the beginning of the war, not every Kiev request has been met at speed.
The United States has sent the oldest Soviet-era missile systems to Ukraine in recent months. But the most powerful and precise American systems are what Kiev is looking for to counter Russian advancement in Donba.
But concerns remain at the White House that sending such a system will be regarded as a switch from the Kremlin, taking into account the weapon's extraordinary destructive power compared to “hoitzer” or old Soviet launchers. / P ERISCOPI/
