Austrian Minister: Finally bring visa liberalisation to the road for Kosovo

Austria's Foreign Minister, Alexander Schallenberg, continues to be vocal when it comes to Kosovo and the Western Balkans in general. In today's interview to German media “Deutschlandfunk.de”, he has reminded his Brussels colleagues that the EU has responsibility not only for Ukraine, but also for Moldova, the South Caucasus and in particular [...]
The six countries of the Western Balkans “are states that have been to us since 19 years ago, 2003, in Thessaloniki, we have given the promise of membership. They are still in this procedure today, and we for years drag on opening negotiations with northern Macedonia and Albania. But I think now is the convenient time for opening negotiations with these two states, even until the French presidency ends, but also to eventually bring visa liberalisation to the road with Kosovo,” said Schalenberg.
In the rest of the interview, the number one Austrian diplomacy said that unlike Finland and Sweden, Austria would continue to remain neutral and not seek NATO membership.
Besides Austria, Ireland and Malta are also the three EU states that are not part of NATO. In recent polls, most Austrians still want to remain neutral, as they decided in 1955.
