Municipal councils throughout England have received a large number of applications from residents eager to celebrate the 70-year-old historical moment of the monarchy, according to the Association of Local Governance (LGA).
Many municipal councils have given up management fees for road closures”, the LGA said.
After two difficult years at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, we hope that this time people will toast and celebrate with their loved ones and neighbours”, the LGA added
The Hertfordshire County Council has received a record 475 street holiday applications, while the London municipality has approved over 100 events and is hosting a street party over a mile long.
