Vladimir Putin has named a new general, Alexander Dvornikov, at the helm of military activities in Ukraine.
A military analyst, retired US General Mark Hertling, explained to CNN what the story of Dvornikov's military strategy looks like.
From the command post, Dvornikov is a typical Russian general. He went to real schools and academys. It will have control over Western, central and southern military regions. Interestingly, he fought in the Chechen war in Grozny in 2015 and in 2016 was the Russian commander in Syria”, Hertling said.
This man, therefore, has a lot of experience with the kind of actions we're seeing in Ukraine now. He currently runs the South Military District, where there are Chechnya, Northern Ossetia, Volgograd and Crimea. He is familiar with the area, Putin himself awarded the medal to”, he added.
Hertling also speaks of Zvornikov's inhuman potential, reports The Express.
It was a kind of gelatin, led by campaigns in which there were many civilian victims, many disasters. He created chaos in Syria and Grozny. Putin will expect military success from him before the parade in Moscow on 9 May”, the retired general said.
“Of course, the question is whether to succeed because there is not enough military force in some parts of eastern Ukraine”, Hertling added.
