Secretary - General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, says the alliance is “in the midst of a very fundamental transformation” that will reflect the long-term “consequences of Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine.
In the interview, Stoltenberg says NATO is planning a permanent military presence on its border as an attempt to combat future Russian aggression.
Stoltenberg adds that his focus is to ensure that other NATO allies meet the alliance's minimum bid of 2% expenditures as part of their GDP.
NATO ministers have met in Brussels last week to discuss how far they must go to secure military equipment for Ukraine.
The challenge for NATO throughout this war has been how to give its ally Ukraine sufficient military support to be protected without involvement in conflict and without being found at war with Russia.
