Turkey's President, Recep Tayip Erdoğan, has held another telephone conversation this Friday with Russia's President Vladimir Putin.
Turkish media report that the two leaders discussed the February 30th meeting in Istanbul between negotiators from Kiev and those from Moscow in an effort to reach an agreement that would end fighting in Ukraine, which have claimed lives by thousands.
According to media in Turkey, Erdogan is aiming to crown peace efforts with a higher-level meeting between Vladimir Putin and Volodyr Zelensky in Turkey. “We would be very happy if we could change the negative positive relations between the two leaders”, Erdogan is taught to say after calling Putin.
However, the Kremlin reacted with a statement following the alleged Ukrainian attack at an oil depot on Russian territory, saying this event makes the situation even more difficult.
