Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that it maintains the same position for not recognising Kosovo's independence.
“We are defending the need to resolve the Kosovo territory issue through dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina”, Spain's Foreign Ministry for Kosovo has declared.
Kosovo's top diplomat, Donika Grovalla, is now repeating calls that it is time for Kosovo to be recognised by the five European Union states that have not, as well as to join NATO.
Of the other five European countries that do not recognise Kosovo, their positions on that issue were confirmed in the preliminary period.
Thus, during his visit to Belgrade in February, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said Athens would remain in its stance.
“As far as Kosovo is concerned and dialogue, I want to be clear, my country's position does not change. We want to see the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, and for that we support dialogue, as well as EU envoy Miroslav Lajcak's efforts”.
“We want to reach a legally binding agreement, which would be in the interest of both sides”, was Mitsotakis' statement in Belgrade.
Slovak Defence Minister Jaroslav Nadj, at the end of February, said the Slovak government and parliament have an unrecognised opinion about not recognising Kosovo's independence and that this is Slovakia's permanent foreign policy stance, despite the government's composition.
At the end of last year, the head of the country's House of Representatives, Anita Dimitriyu, confirmed that even Cyprus's stance will not change, which in Serbia's Parliament declared that Cyprus would never recognise its unilaterally declared independence.
