Security competition: Scholz says he's in confidential talks with Kiev

Germany is holding confidential talks with Ukraine's leadership about security guarantees that it can give Kiev to secure its stability after the Russian occupation, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in the German parliament, writes CNBC, Pryskopi conveyed. “
“We are in the guarantee talks with Ukraine”, Scholz said, according to Reuters, adding:” These talks are confidential”.
Scholz also said Germany could only send weapons to Ukraine that it knows to use, stressing that Ukraine's forces have long been using very old equipment, implying that weapons used previously by the East Communists' army are appropriate.
Germany's decision to send offensive weapons to a conflicted area following Ukraine's Russian occupation marks a historic return to politics and is the first such movement since World War II.
