Pope Francescu has kissed a Ukrainian flag brought by the village of Butka and called for the end of the war, writes the side, Pryscopi explains.
The pope welcomed several Ukrainian children to the hall stage for Vatican audiences Wednesday, and they were given a giant Easter egg. He prayed for them and for all Ukrainians.
He addressed the audience: “These children were forced to leave to safety. This is the product of war”.
He held a dusted Ukrainian flag that he said he had arrived the day before at the Vatican by Butka, where evidence revealed what appeared to be the intentional murder of civilians during the invasion of the city by Russia's troops.
Kissing him, he said:
This flag comes from war, from the martyr city of Buka... Let us not forget them. Let us not forget the people of Ukraine. Recent news from Ukraine, instead of bringing hope, they are bringing atrocities, such as the Butch massacre. Even more tragedies, also targeted against defenseless civilians, women and children”, the Pope said during weekly prayers.
