President Vjosa Osmani, by law, makes the nomination of the chief prosecutor by decree, but may not. I KD, GLPS and the FOL Movement have called on her that during her assessment of appointment, she will take into account the shortcomings highlighted in the process.
These three organisations through a joint communique have reacted after KKP members unanimously voted Blerim Isufajn for the chief prosecutor.
This proposal for appointment of Blerim Isufaj as chief state prosecutor is made by the Prosecutorial Council, although the country's key organisations dealing with monitoring the justice system had warned that the process of selecting the new head of state had a range of shortcomings that violated the integrity of the” process, said in the communique.
The Kosovo Institute for Justice (IKD), the Group for Jury and Political Studies (GLPS) and the FOL Movement, on March 24th 2022 published a report in which an annulment of the state chief prosecutor selection process and the announcement of the new contest was recommended.
The NGO coalition had warned that the Vlervs panel had assessed candidates in an unmanaged manner, thus violating the meritocracy of the process.
We'll get you, Mr.Hall. Isufaj, who was nominated for the new chief prosecutor, was estimated at 98 out of a total of 100 points, although his concept-documental and interviews with the Commission had serious professional shortcomings, easily observed”, is said out in the communiqué.
NGOs estimate that Isufaj's counter-Candids were treated equally.
“The KKP has failed to clarify during the process of interviewing candidates for the chief state prosecutor and ensure that the candidate for the chief State prosecutor has packaged integrity and that he adapts to the position of chief state prosecutor. As a result, the Coalition recommended that the entire process of selection and appointment of the new head of state be annulled and repeated, so that procedural violations and shortcomings recorded” could be avoided, the communiques said.
According to the three nongovernmental organisations, “is surprising how at least one member of the Council has not been convinced by the analysis given through objective monitoring of the” process.
The Vetevendosje movement is also demanding that the process return to zero.
