Meeting in Brussels for license plates begins

In Brussels, the meeting has begun between Kosovo's chief negotiator, Besnik Bislimi, with the European Union's special envoy for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, while today is the deadline for finding a permanent solution to the car license issue. Initially, Bislim will only hold a meeting with Lajcak and then on [...]
Initially, Bislimi will only hold meetings with Lajcak and later join other members of the Kosovo delegation.
Earlier in April 21st, Lajcak held meetings with Serbia's delegation, led by Petar Petkov.
It is still not known whether there will be a trilate meeting - a meeting where the three will be together - that would be an indication that the parties are bringing their positions together and that reaching an agreement on the matter is possible.
Earlier in the day, European officials warned of the need to reach an agreement.
We continue to remind you that it is urgent to find a common language. This will require political flexibility and compromise. We cannot wait because some of the issues require urgent action on our part”, Elsa Fenet, chief of the Western Balkan Division, said at the European Foreign Action Service.
Kosovo and Serbia today, on April 21st, have expired to reach a final agreement regarding the license plates of Serbian and Kosovo cars that enter and exit the borders of two states.
From sources in the EU earlier said some ideas have been identified on the issue of license plates, but the parties have the responsibility of agreeing to one of these solutions.
Lajcak, on 20 April, ordered that it is up to Kosovo and Serbia's chief negotiators to reach “an agreement to move forward” on the issue of license plates when they meet on April 21st.
He said via a Twitter post that Kosovo and Serbia experts on 20 April have held the latest meeting of working groups in Brussels.
“With their work, they have prepared discussions of the chief negotiators, to be held tomorrow [ Thursday, April 21st]. Now, it is up to the chief negotiators to reach an agreement to move forward”, Lajcak wrote on Twitter.
