Along with the president of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Vjosa Osmani, and former president, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, attended the funeral ceremony of former US Secretary of State, Mrs. Madeleine Albright, in Washington National Cathedral's historic setting. We last farewell to a woman who has contributed more than anyone else to our people in her most difficult moments.
From U.S. ambassador to the UN to US Secretary of State, from President Jimmy Carter's administration to President Bill Clinton's, from childhood experience as a refugee of Nazi persecution to her latest work probably the most important anti-fascist book in the XXI century, Mrs. Secretary Madeleine Albright has left an extremely rich legacy for politics, diplomacy and historians. For Kosovo and Albanians, NATO's intervention to stop Serbia's genocide and its personal name Madeline Albright belong to the same sentence.
Under the ceremony, we had opportunity to meet with other guests and precious friends of Kosovo, including the current secretary of State, Mr. Antony Blinken, former U.S. President, Mr. Bill Clinton, former vice president, Mr. President. Albert Gore, former Secretary of State Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Mrs. Condoliseza Rice and Mr. John Kerry, as well as former congressional officer Mr. Elliot Engel. In addition to President Joseph Biden, former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the touching speech was given by her three daughters: Alice, Anne and Katharine.
