He said that in Russia-Serbia relations there is a new moment after Putin's meeting with the UN secretary general, where the Russian president cited the analogy of the Donbas region with Kosovo as the possibility that the Ukraine's eastern region will be independent as Kosovo reports Express.
Putin's statement, according to Jaksic, could build grounds and arguments for future negotiations between Russia and the West.
“Putin may, for example, ask the West to lift sanctions on Russia for annexing Crime and new annexing a considerable part of the Donbas region. And then you recognise Kosovo. Americans can be satisfied because they will be able to enable authorities in Pristina to join the UN and international organisations. And the Russians would legalize their invasion into Ukraine. It must be remembered that politics is a harsh discipline, and those who are unaware of it pay a high price of”, Jakek said.
