Minister Nagavci has reminded delegates of her commitment that teachers do not leave their jobs despite the declining number of students.
The SBASK chairman, Nundman Jasharaj, at the solemn opening of Congress, honoured all teachers who lost their lives by COVID-19.
SBASK's biggest victory under his direction, Jasharaj named passage of the Albanian Republic of Kosovo education workers' status law from the 1990/91 school year to 1998/99.
The greatest quarter of these four years was the passing of the law for the 1990s by borrowing the greatest years of Albanian education, by lending to colleagues who with sacrifice and suffering faced the invaders' tornadoes by becoming watchmen of light against darkness, and we came together to have a law for them, and to say so modestly, thank you”, he said.
Jasharaj has said that despite the sacrifices, there will continue to be co-operation with international friends and has also invited the government for reflection in order to meet other demands concerning making and paying.

But Education Minister Arberie Nagavci, saying that they are doing their best to create all the teaching conditions, has recalled that 1600 teachers who are considered technological surplus because of reducing the number of students have not left their jobs.

This year alone, we have about 14,000 students less than last year, but we have seen to it that none of our teachers are at risk of losing their jobs, said she.
Nagavci said that even about 100 assistants will start working for children with special needs.
“are budgeted, competitions are open in the municipality, and very soon about to start working around 100 assistants of children with special needs... The Ministry of Education has earmarked for 2022 the 1m and 700 thousand euro grant for teachers with health problems”, she said.
European Unity of Education Unions Director Susan Floken, who was among the many foreign guests at this convention, said that through this convention they will also deliver a message of solidarity for colleagues in Ukraine who are suffering from Russian aggression.
There are 11 million teachers across Europe who welcome your convention today. The times have not been easy, and truth is a very great need for solidarity, and I am very sure that together with you, as the message of solidarity, what will come out of this congress from your side, to our colleagues in Ukraine who are suffering war terror, where many children and many mothers are leaving, and also the elderly from war or crime seeking refuge in other countries of<1>, she said.
Congress will continue throughout the day where the new bodies of the Union will be resolved and announced in the afternoon. / KP
