The New Zealand government said the giant aircraft would transport aid and equipment to Ukraine, but without joining its territory.
Prime Minister Yacinda Ardern said New Zealand will support Ukraine “to repel the brutal Russian invasion, because peace in Europe is essential to the stability of the globe”.
“Such an attack against a sovereign state is a threat to all of us, so we must engage all”, she said.
New Zealand will provide Ukraine with $8.8m in aid, mainly for military equipment, which will be sent to Kiev through the United Kingdom.
