Book Day, 20% of schools without libraries, declines the number of students reading

April 23rd has been declared World Book Day on November 15, 1995, with a resolution of U NESTO, after considering the facts that the book was historically, the most powerful tool of knowledge distribution and the most efficient means to ensure the preservation of these knowledge, that any initiative for promoting [...]

According to some researchers reports, 20% of schools in the country do not have libraries at all, while 70% of existing libraries do not have adequate and attractive titles for children. Several mini-bibliotheques that were placed through Pristina were damaged, often and by students themselves. The students ' report in the book does not seem to be the old one.

Agon Ahmeti from the organisation “Ea” has said that according to research it has resulted that students in Kosovo do not read much.

There have been three researchers on the readerial level, the assigned age of this project has been high- and lower elementary school students. Reports have witnessed more or less what is perceived in the public today regarding the children's report to a book that is not at a satisfactory level... The education education institution, it doesn't offer a pleasant reading environment. About 20% of the schools in Kosovo have no libraries at all, about 70% of schools that have libraries, do not have the fund of books that are appropriate and attractive for children”, Ahmeti stressed.

The mini library project, which was conceived and replaced by this organisation, received more attention because of their damage. The possibility that these mini-biblitoekas were offering at some points in the capital to function according to principle “takes a book and leaves another” to stimulate reading was not much supported.

“Minnie-biblots, a very famous project, more about the damage they have experienced than the successes behind it. As to success, I consider it to have been a good job in disaster. The fact is that it has been mentioned and talked a lot about the book through broken news, damaged, renovated, and so forth has been a year of many news stories dedicated to the book. Based on our experiences as part of this society, I think more damage to this project has been done by the fact that we still don't have a culture to the general good, to public property... We've had mini-biblica being close to schools and according to police reports they've been damaged by students, it could have been a student revolt against the education system because it's known today that the book is blown up in the child as something that is mandatory”, he said.

Meanwhile, Ardit Mehmetaj, a literature connoisseur, said that except the number of readers has been changed. While he said the problem is that some titles are not reprinted and their finding is very difficult.

The number (of readers) has also been changed since reading very virtually today... (Problem) That's not reprinting old books. It's a book a professor proposed in literature, a book I've been doing for three weeks until I found it, of a Renaissance book collector... It's not just a mistake of publishing houses but it's a chain error in a form”, he said.

medically, the representative of the library “Dukagini” in Pristina, Dorutuna Drenofci, has said the number of young people buying books is on the rise. The age they buy most books, she says, is teenagers. She added that children are also being inspired by social networks to buy books.

Well, especially in recent years, after the statistics we have on the basis of sales, buying books is continuing to be sold... Interesting is from all ages, but teenagers are the ones who are watching the library... Teens also from the social network ( Tick-Tok, maybe they were affected. Fortunately for the better this time, because they come with the idea that we have that book, and when we look at it, it's from Tik-Tok to”, she said.

The publicist, Shaqir Foniqi, author of several books, has told Kosova Preris that Book Day aims to encourage as many people as possible to read.

While he has confirmed that with the achievement of technology, reading the book has declined, the writer has given a message to this day, asking citizens to read more.

The goal of marking this day is to encourage young people, generally citizens' populations to read... The depth of knowledge is only in the book, and no way on the Internet... There's never been more books and there's never been fewer readers... Of course it's down. Only the tangible things are immortal. The book is read only by changing pages... Read everything you can, because even from a newspaper page thrown out of the street you'll find something that you probably didn't know before, Foniqi stressed.

This date is marked in the world with various activities since 2003, while it has been unselected in 1995 in order to contribute worldwide to copyright by encouraging all, especially young people, to discover the satisfaction of reading.
