US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defence Lloyd Austin will visit Kiev on Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
Tomorrow, American officials will come to visit us. I will meet with Defence Secretary (Loyed Austin) and Antony Blinken,” told Zelensky reporters on Saturday.
The Ukrainian president gave no further details about the possible visit.
It would be the first official visit by US government officials since Russia's aggression against Ukraine began on February 24th.
The White House refused to comment on the possible visit Saturday. The US State Department also rejected the comment.
Ukrainian President also demanded that the United States accept being one of Ukraine's security guarantors to protect it from future threats.
Mr. Zelensky said he expected concrete results, including an agreement to offer more weapons.
Mr. Zelensky for weeks has asked Western allies to send Ukraine more weapons to withstand Russian aggression. / VOA
