Why isn't Ambassador Martin Berisha being fired?

For former Ambassador Bernard Nikaj, the failure of Kosovo Ambassador to Zagreb Martin Berishaaj may be because he may be a friend of President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti, or because the two leaders do not have the courage to make decisions in critical times. According to the former ambassador to Brussels and member of the PDK leadership, [...]

According to the former ambassador to Brussels and PDK chairmanship member, Berisha would have had to resign so far.

“Such news is shocking news, news is flowing to another location. The ambassador's name has become part of that country's election campaign and political developments. Such an event narrows the ambassador's chances for work. It has damaged the operation of our diplomacy both in Croatia and Slovenia. It's a big diplomatic scandal. It's scandalous, and more scandalous is how this situation is being handled. This is a scandal, it doesn't turn back”, Nikaj said on KTV.

Nikaj has stressed that it is not important Berisha's guilt or innocence at this time, but the damage the scandal he is involved in could bring Kosovo to the international sphere.

“Being these claims, an ambassador cannot do his job. The ambassador is close to the president and prime minister. He could be relieved after clarifying the situation, he could be employed in another position. The ambassador's position is more important than his internal position. We cannot be represented by suspects. Until it's explained, they can't exercise diplomat function. The damage to this event, beyond discussion, goes beyond our borders. It damages our interests in the international sphere. We don't need such an image to represent us”, he added.

According to him, the government is slow to make decisions at critical times.

I see inability to move the country forward. This government is more like the past than building a future. This government will bring down events sooner than it expected”, Nikaj has declared.

Berishaaj was accused by media in Slovenia of being involved in a money laundering scandal. The presidency has invited the ambassador to Kosovo for clarification, meanwhile, Kurti has said his position has been given by the Government spokesman for Progress Kryeziu.
