Ukraine's president, Voldymyr Zelenskyy, in a video address posted just a few minutes ago, has said they survived a night that could complete the history of Ukraine and Europe.
This is after Russian forces bombed today the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, which is located southeast of Ukraine, causing major fire.
We survived a night that could end the history of Ukraine and Europe”, Zelensky said.
Otherwise, the largest nuclear power plant in Ukraine, Zaporizija, was reportedly attacked by Russians in the early hours of Friday 4 March.
The attack occurred in early hours Friday morning, according to local time in Ukraine.
During the plant area, fighting has been under way for several days.
It was confirmed that the attack did not cause serious consequences to cause nuclear disasters.
Experts reported no rise in radioactivity levels.
Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, sought assistance from the European Union following the attack.
Zelensky said that if the bombings continue, the disaster could be bigger than the Chernobyl disaster that occurred in 1986.
The White House said there is information that there is currently no high risk of rising levels of radioactivity.
The Zaporizhja nuclear plant is the largest in Europe.
