NASA images show how lights in urban parts of Ukraine have been turned off since the country's invasion.
This image from NASA was taken on February 7th 2022. It relates what Ukraine looked like the night and about a month ago and before Russia invaded February 24.

Light groups in areas built as cities or on some important roads appear as lit up on a map.
By comparison, Ukraine appeared on the night of March 7, 2022.

Now, only a small amount of light can be seen, but most of the light sources at night have been turned off.
We can also see the impact of war on numerous cities and regions of Ukraine.
This is the top of these images.

Some areas seem unclear in the image taken on February 7th because of clouds.
Despite this, the capital is brightly lit, with a storm of light coming out. Dozens of small dots cover the rest of the image.
A month later, the entire area is almost completely dark. Light from the city of Kiev has been greatly reduced, and only a small portion of the other lights are visible on March 7th.
