Switzerland will pass new European Union sanctions on Russia and freeze the assets of more people with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the government announced in a statement Friday.
The new approved measures concern certain financial goods and services, the government said in a statement, adding that the Swiss sanctions list has expanded.
According to the government, implementation of these sanctions is in line with Switzerland's neutrality.
“Export of all dual-use articles from Russia is now banned, regardless of their final use or final user. In addition, export of goods that could contribute to Russia's military and technological improvement or defence development and security is prohibited. Exports to Russia of certain goods and services in the oil sector are no longer allowed. Furthermore, export of certain goods and technology that can be used in aviation and space industry is prohibited,” ) said the Swiss government.
Transactions with the Russian Central Bank are also no longer allowed.
The government has also decided to add individuals to the list of individuals approved by the EU on 28 February and thus freeze other persons' assets with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
