Same Sex Marriages That Divided VVA - Offs, Prejudice - All We Heard Today in the Parliament

The Kosovo Assembly did not approve of the Civil Code draft, which envisions allowing marriages between the same gender. Out of 77 deputies in the hall, 28 were in favour, 29 against and had four abstentions. What characterised the fierce and insulting debate against the LGBTI community was the divisions between the Parliamentary Group of Vetevendosje... MPs of [...]

Parliament deputies throughout the afternoon have been debating the Civil Code draft, so showing their pro- and against allowing same-sex marriage, an issue that has also sparked major civic debate, and not alone.

Viewing it as a delicate and taboo issue, of course there was no shortage of confrontations, no discriminating, insulting, prejudiced, and lynching language against the LGBTI community.

The first to speak was Prime Minister Albin Kurti. He said that the Civil Code does not provide such a thing, but envisions procedures for a special Law.

“Ris is the ban on early marriages. This arrangement is in full compliance with international standards. Marriage age grows in 18 years. Significantly, there have been misunderstandings, social community registrations of the same sex. After all, human rights are the rights of all humans, of every person because every human is a creature of God and nature. This is said by our Constitution and by the practices of the Court of Human Rights.

To register the civil communities of people with equal sex, to Article 1138, the possibility is to register these people as civil communities. The code does not regulate the conditions and procedure for this new institute, but it is affirmatively determining that, in the future, it can be adjusted to special Law”, the prime minister added.

Democratic League of Kosovo MP Driton Selmanaj has criticised the Government of Kosovo for its lack of courage over the adoption of the Civil Code, where the topic of same-sex marriage is addressed.

Selmanaj has said that the government has hesitated for more specific treatment of this matter that has been presented in the Assembly.

From the AAK ranks, Time Kadrijaj has turned to Prime Minister Kurti asking why he has not agreed with his deputies to unanimously vote for marriages between the same sex.

The insults and clashes within the Vetevendosje Movement...

It was MP Labinote Demi-Murtezi, VV deputy who opened the debate by the ranks of the Vetevendosje Parliamentary Group.. The headscarfed MP went against same-gender marriages, prejudiced and used discriminatory and insulting themes against the LGBTI community.

In this case, Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca warned his colleague by suggesting that such terms are unfair and discriminating.

Meanwhile, a different voice was heard by the other MP, Fatmire Muhhajina 50 Kolcaku, which created the voices of her MP colleagues in the country why same-gender marriage is considered harmful to health, degenerative and immoral.

I'm sorry, we can talk about tradition and so on, but we have to punish the marriage of a man with 7 wives, incest, etc., was a statement by Deputy Fatmires.

And a very different perspective from the Vetevendosje group and completely coloured with science was that of MP Jahja Cocaj. Although, at one point he became nervous with his colleague Ardian Golan.

My colleague, this young man, I wish he wouldn't try to attack science and those who spoke in a scientific way, told Cocaj Gola.

Nor did Conjufca's reaction miss him, in which irony suggests that this new guy has no 43 years of time.

Almost at the end of the day, as an attempt to convince MP colleagues-Dimal Basha proved to be in favour of same-sex marriages by taking many examples.

It's the duty of the dojo, you may not like their confidence, but not with your anger”.

The <x0phones that you have in your hand are a homosexual.”, was an argument for Basha, a hand in your heart quite shot.

On the other hand, there was no interest in involvement in the debate, though some of them had been declared against it from the start./ P ERISCOPI/
