US Senator Jim Rich demands stronger sanctions on Russia

Senator from Idaho Jim Rich, a member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told CNN today that he hopes Congress can adopt two-party legislation that will impose additional sanctions on Russia. “From my point of view, I would like to see secondary sanctions for every bank in [...]
From my point of view, I'd like to see secondary sanctions for every bank in Russia. I think with what's going on there, we really can't be too harsh on sanctions. We just have to take down the hammer,” said Richch.
He added: “I understand that any administration wants to have full control. Of course, I think Congress plays a role in this. I'd like to see some languages go through Congress”.
We have fought with him. We've done a trustful effort, but it's getting very close, but they haven't done it completely. Look, they're imposing their sanctions. The sanctions have really surprised us as to how effective they were and I would encourage them to continue and go that way,” said Rich.
Rich also criticised US President Joe Biden, who said on Saturday there should be a regime change in Russia, a remark that quickly withdrew from White House officials after their speech in Warsaw.
There was a terrible gaffe right at the end of it, I'd like it to stay in the script. Whoever wrote that talk did a good job for him. But I'd like them to keep him in the script. I think most people who don't get into the lane of external relations don't realize that the nine words he said would cause the kind of explosion they did, but whenever you say or even as he suggested, that politics was the change of regime, it would cause a big problem. Please, president, stay in the scenario,” he said.
