Andrei Soldatov, a prominent investigative journalist, told Channel 4 that everything now looks possible” asked if the Kremlin leader, a former FSB agent, could leave his people.
Last week, Soldatov said the nervous Russian president has put FSB foreign service leader under house arrest.
In advance of the invasion, several reports have circulated that Putin was told by the FSB security service, which is a successor to the KGB, that Ukraine will easily submit and surrender.
Matt Frey from Channel 4 asked the journalist: “A is it possible that some generals, especially those on the front line there, perhaps along with some disgruntled FSB officers, would try to counter Putin and try to get rid of him?”
And the Russian journalist replied: “of course, everything now seems possible, but we have to remind him that Putin is an FSB trained officer. He is prepared for his personal dangers and he does not have one but two security services”, Soldatov said.
“Putin has become extremely unhappy with military intelligence coming to Ukraine. He seems to have been convinced that there are no creditive opposition in Ukraine to Kiev's government. He cannot count on anyone in Ukraine”, he continued.
“Putin believes he is the world's most informed politician. He wants to stay in geopolitical recognitions. So it's hard to tell him something he doesn't want to hear”, the Russian investigative reporter added.
