Russia's Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konasevo said the country's forces have taken full control of the entire territory in southern Ukraine of the Kherson region, the Russian news agency reports.
Kherson was taken in early March, leaving 300,000 people living under the rule of the Russian occupant.
Now the Russian Army has claimed to have taken control of the Kherson border region, which has more than a million inhabitants.
This weekend, Ukraine's president, Voldymyr Zelensky, had warned that Russia wishes to return Kherson to a Kurdish state divided, like Donbass.
These claims still remain to be confirmed.
