German umbrella organisation Aktionsbündis Cattastrephephephelf, composed of the Caritas International, the German Red Cross, U n German NICEF and humanitarian organisation of the German Evangelian Church reported more than 76m euros collected so far.
“Never in the history of our organisation, never in the last 21 years have we had so many donations in so little time”, said the director of Aktionsbündis, Dominic Mann.
Another German humanitarian organisation, Aktion Deutschland Hilft, reported having collected 55.9m euros in donations, which the spokesman compared to donations made during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and the 2021 floods in Germany.
According to Aktion Deutschland Hillft marketing manager, digital payment methods were a key factor in the size of donations, because people could donate quickly and easily.
