Putin's power has become his weakness

Vladimir Putin's extraordinary power seems to be now a key weakness for the Russian leader, with those surrounding him looking too afraid to tell the truth, or to suspect reasonableness and strategy when it comes to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, writes CNBC, explains Periscope. There is [...]
“Putin has constantly taken away people who may have challenged him, leaving only faithful and frightened” around themselves, says Anton Barbasin, a Russian political analyst and editorial director of the Ridle newspaper.
Every autism or dictator, as long as he stays in power, is always surrounded by people who are first loyal and then (if that happens) to be competent”, he added.
Recent U.S. intelligence releases said Putin was not told the whole truth about the failed Russian invasion of Ukraine and that the president feels distorted by his military leaders who did not tell him the key details about the war -- which did not go according to the plan with Russian forces diving into fighting in the north, east and south -- because they feared they would upset him.
“No one wants to deliver bad news, and any agency that works for it wants to be what displays its values before him”, he says.
We don't know exactly what's going on there. But, clearly, judging according to some voices, Putin is not satisfied with how war<x1 is going.
Analysts say there are not only war commanders who are afraid of Putin, and this is a widespread problem in Russian government circles, from Putin's narrow circle to highly qualified civil servants who are afraid to question the regime or war in Ukraine.
“They are very scared -- very scared”, says CNBC Vladimir Milov, a Russian opposition and former deputy energy minister who already lives in Lithuania.
Give me, I have a lot of Russian government resources and no one is now supporting the war -- maybe saving a few people from Putin's narrow circle -- nobody is supporting what Putin is doing.
Many believe Putin has been waiting for Russian forces to easily take over the country with the goal of ousting the Ukrainian government and installing a pro-Russia regime as Moscow aims to expand its sphere of influence from former Soviet states.
Defence analysts have said Russia's troops were not prepared for the invasion, but this may not have been revealed to Putin by the hungry commanders to make him happy and unwilling to appear uncompetent-or in fact that their command forces did not seem unable.
Experts are wondering whether the invasion of Ukraine, which has had senseless consequences for Russia, could potentially counter Putin, leaving him vulnerable to home revolt as the standard of living falls, whether it is a stock led by members of his political and business elite.
Analysts underline that there seems to be little pressure on Putin to bring an end to the war, with little evidence that any members of the political or business elite have mobilised against the Ukrainian war.
As far as Putin is believed to have descended from his power to protect and enrich a business elite, as well as to prosecute Russian opposition policy, among which the most prominent figure is Alexei Navalny who was imprisoned because of those described as fabricated charges.
Putin is also said to be surrounded by ésiloviki, or powerful people, who are former colleagues of the KGB, or FSO Federal Protection Service, a federal agency believed by 50 thousand personnel responsible for protecting top state officials, of course, including the president.
Thus, Putin seems to have a cocoon of defence around him, making him virtual uninvulnerable. ( CNBC/Periscope)
