Reason: Intelligence failures, where his army suffered a series of shameful losses in Ukraine.
Andrey Soldatov, a respected member of Russian secret services, said that sources within the FSB informed him that Sergey Beseda, 68, head of the agency's foreign service, has been arrested on Putin's orders.
Also arrested was Anatoly Balyukh, Beseda's deputy.
Soldatov went further, saying Putin was really unhappy with the agency he ran before becoming president.
The Russian president reportedly blames the agency, which secured it before the invasion that Russian forces would only face symbolic resistance from the Ukrainian army and that Ukrainians themselves were eager to get rid of their leaders.
Among the reasons for the depression are the embezzlement of funds earmarked for subversive and secret work in Ukraine, as well as deliberately false information about the political situation in Ukraine.
In fact, the Russian armed forces have faced fierce resistance from Ukrainian soldiers, who have fought them until they stop.
Earlier it was said Putin had fired his top generals and that he was served because intelligence had failed and the weak strategy saw his troops suffer a series of shameful losses in the early days of the war in Ukraine.
