The system will be operated by German and Dutch troops and will initially be deployed at the Slyach central airport to help strengthen NATO's eastern wing protection of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Patriot system will be part of a new NATO battle group in Slovakia, which borders Ukraine, writes Croatian news agency Index.
“I am happy to confirm that the first units in charge of deploying the Patriot air defence system are gradually arriving in Slovakia”, Slovak Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad on Facebook wrote.
