Partial local elections officially wrap up voting process in Albania

The deadline for voting process in part local elections in 6 Albanian municipalities has officially been completed. 654,538 Albanian citizens had the opportunity to exercise their constitutional right to vote on who would lead their municipality in Vora, Rrogozhina, Lushnje, Shkodra, Debar and Durres. Candidates from [...] competed in these elections.
654,538 Albanian citizens had the opportunity to exercise their constitutional right to vote on who would lead their municipality in Vora, Rrogozhina, Lushnje, Shkodra, Debar and Durres.
Candidates from the Socialist Party, Democratic Party and coalition “competed in these elections Freedom House”, which included a part of the DP led by Sali Berisha, LSI and PDK.
Even in these elections, electronic voter identification was applied, while voters in Vora municipality had the opportunity to vote electronically.
The voting process did not mark any serious incident except some problems in Vora and 3 centres in Shkodra where it was not voted.
In Vora municipality, there was a debate among the parties involved in the election, since the Democratic Party had not appointed municipal commissionors to be part of the QV.
While in Shkodra, at 3 polling stations in Shosh and Pult, citizens were unable to vote after commissionors failed to make it to the QV because of heavy snow blocking the road.
According to preliminary data, voter turnout in these elections is expected to be low. /A2
