Kurti has said it would be good for Kosovo to be admitted to the EC and also NATO.
We will apply this year to become a member of the European Union. It would be very good for Kosovo to be admitted to the Council of Europe and NATO's Partnership for Peace programme”.
On the other hand, Kurti has said they are in contact with non-recognition states that could pose an obstacle to membership.
We are in contact with non-recognitional states. Four are also in NATO -- Spain, Slovakia, Greece and Romania. And Cyprus, which is part of the European Union but not also of NATO”.
He has said he hopes these states will make a historic turn.
“I hope that this year these countries will take the big step towards recognising Kosovo's independence and joining most of the countries that have recognised Kosovo's independence, which are part of the EU and NATO”.
Kurti added that Kosovo participated last year in “Defender 2021” with NATO member states, while Serbia was with Russia in “SlavicShild”
