Foundation Court in Mitrovica Chairman Ljiljana Stevanovic has been suspended by the Kosovo Judiciary Council after attending a meeting of the National Security Council, which was held in Belgrade on 22 March.
The KJK says the decision has been made without any political influence, for which it has also called on institutions and public officials of institutions to refrain from statements on KDP decisions.
Kosovo Judiciary Council (KGJK) reports public opinion that, at the 281st meeting, it has decided to suspend the Chairman of the Foundation Court in Mitrovica, from its position as chairman. This decision is made according to the request of the Competent Authority for the Courts, in accordance with the Law on Disciplinary Resciplinary Responsibilities of Judges and Prosecutors, Court Law, the KDR Law, the Ethics Code and the Order for the Judge's Disciplinary Procedure. In this case, the KDR points out that the decision to suspend the chairman of the Constitutional Court in Mitrovica has been taken within the constitutional and legal responsibilities KDR has, and does not prejudge the completion of the procedure in relation to the judge, Mrs. Stevanovi. The decision in question is taken without any political influence, so in this case, the KDR called on institutions and public officials of other institutions to refrain from statements on KDR decisions, as any public statement does not contribute to the independence of the judiciary, as independent power”, the KDP communiqué says.
And Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has on Thursday declared that Mitrovica Foundation Court Chairman Lilana Stevanovic has been suspended at the request of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
