CNN's Israeli correspondent Hadas Gold has provided details from the meeting, reporting that the meeting between Bennett and Putin is being held with the permission and blessing of the United States of America.
“The Jerusalem Post” has published new details from the meeting, where it becomes known that after the three-hour meeting with Putin, Bennett has flown to Berlin to hold a scheduled meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the newspaper Express broadcast.
According to a JP diplomatic source, Bennett and Putin have discussed the war in Ukraine, as well as the situation of Israelis and Jewish communities as a result of the conflict.
As it becomes known, Bennett informed him in advance of his meeting with Ukrainian President Putin, Voldymyr Zelensky and called for the second time after his end before leaving Moscow.
Except for the United States, writes “The Jerusalem Post”, Bennett, has also been co-ordinated with France and Germany. Turkey has also been informed of the meeting held, since the Israeli prime minister has flown over the Turkish sky.
Besides, Putin and Bennett have also discussed the situation in Iran, where the Israeli prime minister has voiced his opposition to returning to the 2015 nuclear agreement.
Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Israel has been trying to become balanced in international security, co-ordinating with Russia as well as with its strategic ally, the US.
Israel has voted the UN resolution on condemning Russian aggression in Ukraine, but Bennett has been cautious in his vocabulary regarding Russia. Recently, he has voiced support for the Ukrainian people and has called for negotiations.
Bennett is the first prime minister from a democratic country to meet Putin after the already ten-day invasion of Ukraine.
