The defence is about preserving consumer health and security and protecting them from any abusive practice and businessmen.
On March 15, 1962, US President John F. Kennedy approved “Consumer Rights Law”. While, with Resolution 39/248, April 9, 1985, the United Nations has adopted the Consumer Protection Guide and Protection Guide, and since then, March 15 is World Consumer Rights Day.
In 1985, the United Nations General Assembly recognised the universality of consumer rights, the time when it approved the directives for consumer protection, as well as four other rights: the right to meet basic needs, the right to injury, the right to consumer education and the right to a healthy environment.
Kosovo has its own law on protecting consumers, adopted in June 2004. The law includes the right to inform, to security, to choose and to listen.
This day is also marked in our country by INDEP, which today will host the consumer protection conference in Kosovo.
While, days ago, the chairman of the Society “Consumator”, Ceatin Kacanik, had a message for this day. His message to Consumers' Day, marked on March 15th, was hope to stabilise the consumer issue.
