All Indian citizens, including students, are advised to leave Kiev urgently today. Possibly with available trains or any other available means”, the embassy on Twitter wrote.
Less than 24 hours earlier, the embassy had advised Indian citizens to stay calm, peaceful, and united”, urging them to remain patient after large crowds are expected at railway stations.
Tuesday's announcement comes after reports of Indian students allegedly being harassed while trying to cross the Ukrainian border to neighbouring countries.
In response to a question about alleged harassment, Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson for India's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said during a press conference Monday that they continue to speak with ambassadors of Russia and Ukraine to ensure Indian security.
India's announcement comes after a Russian military convoy consisting of armoured vehicles, tanks, attractive artillery and other logistical vehicles arrived on the outskirts of the capital on Tuesday, according to satellite images by Maxar Technologists.
