Government seeks money for army, on the other hand buys 1m euros art works

This decision has been made today at the Kosovo Government meeting.

“Mbi 1m euros for purchase of art works

The decision to purchase works of art was approved at the recent meeting of the Government of Kosovo. Over 1m euros will be spent over three years to buy works of art and enrich the state art fund.

This is good news coming after the difficulties we had last year to bring this program to life. Our insistence that this new form of recognition and support of artists be delivered to the end has made sure that the programme increases both budgets and life expectancy.

The programme that began last year, we added to the element of the purchase of the works of the artists proven no longer among us. Countless works of extraordinary artists found in private collections and unknown to the public will have the opportunity to expose themselves to art lovers through this program.

Strong foundations are more necessary than rapid growth. The following weeks will open public call for the purchase of art works. Over the course of three years, we will enrich the state art fund through regular public calls and direct purchase”, says the Ministry of Culture and Sports communiqué. / P ERISCOPIA
