European Commission suspends agreements with Russian research, scientific organisations

The European Commission has suspended co-operation with Russian researchers, scientific and innovative organisations after its invasion to Ukraine, the European Commission announced on Friday, writes CNN, Pryskopi forwards.

They have also suspended payments to these Russian organisations that are under current contracts and “will not sign new contracts or agreements with Russia's organisations.

The European Union's research co-operation is based on respect for freedoms and rights that are fundamental to perfection and innovation. Russia's brutal aggression against Ukraine is an attack on these values. So the time has come to end the research co-operation with Russia”, said Margarethe Vestager, the European commissioner.
